Salicylate Free Cheeseburger with Fries

This is a favorite dinner option since getting an air fryer which really speed up making the fries.

Burger Recipe

  • 1/4 pound ground beef (90% lean)
  • Homemade bread slices
  • Aged-cheddar cheese slices
  • Thinly sliced shallots
  • pinch of sea salt
  • butter unsalted, thin pad for grill pan

Burger Recipe Steps

Preheat oven for 380 degrees. Place cast iron grill pan to preheat in oven. When ready, put grill pan on burner and set to med-high temperature, apply thin pad of butter to grill pan and add ball of ground beef, use metal spatula to press lightly to flatten patty on grill. Let grill for a few minutes until browned, sprinkle with sea salt and flip patty. Add more butter to grill pan and add sliced shallots to buttered area. Lightly salt the patty again, flip and add slices of cheese and pile the shallots on top so they don’t burn on grill. Put in oven to melt cheese and make sure the burgers are well-done (at least 155 degrees internal temp.). Toast your bread slices in oven while waiting for burger. Assemble your cheeseburger when done.

Fries Recipe

  • Russet white potato (elongated shape works great for fries)
  • Canola oil
  • Sea salt

Fries Steps

Peel russet potato, cut into thin french fry sizes and soak in mixing bowl of water for 15+ minutes. Remove from water bath and dry off on kitchen towel, pat dry and add back to dry mixing bowl to mix with canola oil and sea salt. Once ready, set the air fryer to fries setting (My air fryer is a Cuisinart and the auto settings are 400 degrees for 20 minutes), keep an eye on it and toss as needed and remove when ready.
