Salicylate Free Homemade Caramel

This is a great salicylate free snack or dessert option.

Recipe

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons of Unsalted Butter, (cut into cubes, at room temperature)
  • 1/2 Cup Heavy Cream

Preparation

Step 1

In a heavy bottomed sauce pan, heat the sugar on medium low heat until its completely melted, whisking gently every few minutes or so. The sugar will form small clumps before melting slowly. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn.

Step 2

Once melted, reduce heat to lowest setting and stir in the butter. The mixture will bubble violently, but this what it’s suppose to do.

Step 3

Next, remove from heat and pour in the heavy cream and 1/2 teaspoon of the sea salt. Stir until everything is combined. Pour into small glass jar and allow to cool completely before using.
